Senior Finance Administrator Disbursements (80-100%)

WEC Lines is a dynamic medium-sized maritime transport organisation specialising in container transport. Our services focus primarily on the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, the Canary Islands and North and East Africa. Our head office is located in Rotterdam. We also have offices in Hamburg, Le Havre, Antwerp, Barcelona, Nairobi and Mombasa, among others.

For our head office in Rotterdam, we are looking for a Senior Finance Administrator Disbursements.

The Disbursements department, part of our Finance team, is looking for an experienced colleague with a strong sense of responsibility and a hands-on mentality. Fun fact: this December, we’re moving to a brand-new office right in the heart of the Rotterdam city centre!

About the role

In this versatile and independent role, you are responsible for executing and monitoring financial and administrative processes related to disbursement accounts. You play an active role in analysing discrepancies, improving processes and supporting and guiding the Disbursement team to meet deadlines.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Preparing and analysing cost and revenue reports, comparing actual figures with budgets
  • Closing voyages and identifying structural discrepancies, taking a proactive role in resolving them
  • Checking and booking incoming invoices from suppliers and port authorities, as well as disbursements accounts from agents
  • Maintaining contact with agents and suppliers regarding discrepancies and resolving disputes and freight differences
  • Aligning with internal departments on discrepancies and identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Preparing and verifying financial data for internal reporting
  • Actively contributing to the month-end closing process, including preparing necessary accruals
  • Working with our in-house financial systems (ThinkWise, ProActive, Odyssey and Excel)
  • Supporting the Disbursement team with queries
  • Guiding and coordinating the Disbursement team in meeting monthly deadlines
  • Participating in weekly meetings with the co-senior and supervisor to discuss progress, projects and team performance

What you bring

  • Completed HBO degree, preferably in Finance & Control or Logistics Management, or a comparable level of working and thinking
  • Several years of relevant experience in a financial role, preferably within logistics
  • Good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken
  • You take ownership and actively drive the achievement of deadlines
  • You are accurate, flexible, stress-resistant, proactive and solution-oriented
