Operations specialist

We are looking for a Operations Specialist for the WEC Lines local Nantes (France) office.

The organisation

WEC Lines is a dynamic medium-sized maritime transport organisation specialising in container transport. With +50 years of experience, our services mainly concentrate on Belgium, Germany, England, Portugal, Spain (incl. the Canary Islands), Morocco, North and East Africa and the Red Sea. Our head office is in Rotterdam and we also have branches in e.g. Hamburg, Nantes, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Barcelona, Nairobi and Mombasa.

At the Nantes office, we are looking for a: Operations Specialist.

Job description

The Operations specialist reports to the Supervisor customer service of WEC Lines local Nantes (France) office. This job position is set up within a small agency with the Operations supervisor and the Office manager France. This team will later be completed with a Commercial manager France.

As operations specialist you will be supporting the team, ensuring a proper operational process and execution around the vessels and landside container operations in France for WEC Lines. Where necessary the Operations specialist will assist the Office manager on back-office work and equipment related tasks like ensuring move reporting and container stock management, logistics, haulage and contact with the clients and other offices in the WEC network.

Key responsibilities

  • Accepting import and export bookings, executing documentation related tasks, arranging container transport.
  • Vessel related items like ensuring vessels are cleared and husbandry tasks organized.
  • Ensuring documentation related items are arranged for import/export and manifest.
  • Contact with the container terminals in Montoir-de-Bretagne, Le Havre and Fos-sur-Mer.
  • Contact with the Tonnage Center in Rotterdam (ship planning).
  • Contacts and reporting with French Customs when necessary.
  • Ensuring with the team that cost admin and supplier invoices are executed in a proper way.

Profile

  • Analytic qualities and self-organisation skills
  • Ability to perform under stress or tight deadlines (at least punctually)
  • Feeling for other cultures (in particular work cultures)
  • English language in writing and verbal on business level, other languages a plus.
  • Specific understanding of maritime container shipping business and logistics.
  • A bachelor level education in an economic (business), transports or logistics field.
  • Some first experience (at least 1 year) in a shipping and logistics environment.
  • Experience with a local maritime agency of a container shipping line is preferred.
  • Experience with any of the following software is appreciated: S)ONE, S-WING, Ci5, Odyssey and TIMAD

  • Remuneration at least 30,000 EUR gross, depending on experience.
