Our services focus primarily on the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, the Canary Islands and North and East Africa. Our head office is located in Rotterdam. We also have offices in Hamburg, Le Havre, Antwerp, Barcelona, Nairobi and Mombasa, among others.
For our head office in Rotterdam, we are looking for a Business Applications & Data Specialist.
The role
The Business Applications & Data Specialist is responsible for the management, continuous development and optimisation of the organisation’s core software platforms. In this role, you act as the link between the business, end users, software suppliers and data, ensuring that our software solutions fully support business processes.
In addition, you are responsible for managing and developing data solutions, Power BI reporting and system integrations. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external software partners, you continuously contribute to improving, digitalising and future-proofing the organisation.
Your key responsibilities
1. Product Ownership & Application Management
- Manage the functional administration of the organisation’s core software platforms
- Translate business needs and process improvements into functional requirements
- Prioritise enhancements and maintain the product roadmap
- Coordinate changes, releases and new functionalities with external software suppliers
- Safeguard the quality, continuity and performance of business applications
2. Business Applications & Support
- Act as the second- and third-line point of contact for complex application-related issues
- Support key users and end users
- Analyse incidents and initiate structural improvements
- Document functionalities, processes and system configurations
- Contribute to user training and application adoption
3. Data & System Integrations
- Manage and optimise data flows between applications
- Develop and maintain SQL queries and data models
- Work with external partners on APIs, EDI and system integrations
- Ensure the quality, reliability and consistency of business data
4. Business Intelligence
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards
- Design data models and KPIs
- Support the business with reporting and data analysis
- Identify improvement opportunities based on available data
5. Process Optimisation & Digitalisation
- Translate business processes and SOPs into software solutions
- Identify inefficient processes and initiate improvements
- Investigate and implement low-code/no-code solutions where appropriate
- Contribute to the organisation’s ongoing digital transformation
6. Innovation & AI
- Explore how AI solutions can improve business processes
- Contribute ideas for innovative applications in data, automation and user experience
- Monitor technological developments relevant to the organisation
7. Stakeholder & Supplier Management
- Collaborate with internal departments, key users and international offices
- Coordinate with external software suppliers regarding improvements, incidents and new developments
- Support implementations, training sessions and international projects
- Contribute to strategic digitalisation initiatives
What you bring
- Based in the Netherlands and in possession of a valid Dutch work permit
- HBO/University degree in Business IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Business Administration or similar
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, independent, decisive and structured approach, combined with excellent analytical skills
- Experience with ERP systems, business applications or software platforms
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience with APIs, EDI and system integrations. Experience with low-code/no-code platforms (such as Microsoft Power Platform, Mendix or similar) is an advantage
- Affinity with software architecture, data flows and application management
- Experience with Power BI, data modelling, DAX, data analysis and data quality management
- Interest in AI solutions and process automation
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, OpenAI or similar technologies is an advantage
