WEC Lines is a dynamic mid-sized maritime transport company specialised in container shipping. Our services focus mainly on the UK, Portugal, Spain, the Canary Islands, North and East Africa. Our head office is located in Rotterdam, and we have offices in Hamburg, Le Havre, Antwerp, Barcelona, Nairobi and Mombasa.
For our head office in Rotterdam, we are looking for an Assistant Controller (32-40 hours).
The Finance department is looking for an enthusiastic and accurate colleague with a strong team spirit.
About the role
In this versatile and independent role, you are part of the Finance team and contribute to the financial administration of several international offices, including the Netherlands, the UK, Belgium, Germany, France and Kenya. You work closely with colleagues within the department and support various financial processes and reporting activities.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Assisting with periodic month-end closings, including preparing the related files and reports
- Performing various administrative activities within the financial administration
- Critically reviewing financial figures and reports • Contributing to solving financial issues and questions
- Performing financial checks and reconciliations
- Processing daily financial transactions
- Working with our in-house financial systems (FIS2000, SpendCloud, Odyssey, ThinkWise and Excel)
- Carrying out various ad hoc activities
What you bring
- Completed HBO degree in a financial field with several years of relevant work experience within a finance department
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken
- You take ownership and work in a goal-oriented manner to meet deadlines
- You are proactive, accurate, eager to learn, solution-oriented and stress-resistant
