The organisation

WEC Lines is a dynamic medium-sized maritime transport organisation specialising in container transport. With +50 years of experience, our services mainly concentrate on Belgium, Germany, England, Portugal, Spain (incl. the Canary Islands), Morocco, North and East Africa and the Red Sea. Our head office is in Rotterdam and we also have branches in e.g. Hamburg, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Barcelona, Nairobi and Mombasa.

At the Rotterdam head office, we are looking for a: Outside Sales Executive.

As an Outside Sales Executive you are the point of contact for our customers and the link between sales, customer service and line management.

You build relationships, actively hunt for new cargo flows and think in solutions. With your commercial flair and maritime knowledge you are a valuable asset in our sales team. You are mainly on the road to visit (potential) customers and to promote WEC Lines but you can also regularly be found in the office.

Key responsibilities

  • Visiting customers and maintaining personal contact
  • Active networking, network meetings with the aim of developing new business opportunities
  • Quoting and confirming rates, including administrative recording in our system
  • Active follow-up of quotations and customer questions
  • Carrying out targeted commercial actions
  • Supporting new customers with their first shipments in combination with customer service
  • Maintaining telephone contact with customers and maintaining customer data
  • Identifying new business and opportunities in the market
  • Managing and monitoring existing customer relationships
  • Preparing and organising appointments for the field service
  • Coordinating operational settlement where necessary
  • Contributing to account management and commercial strategy

Profile

  • HBO work and thinking level
  • At least 5 years of experience in shipping/transport and knowledge of shipbroker activities
  • Experience in shortsea (Portugal/Spain/Morocco) and deepsea (East Africa/Red Sea/Middle East) is a plus
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing, the German language is a plus
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to set priorities and act accordingly
  • Goal-oriented and the will to achieve target(s)
  • Furthermore, you have communication skills, you are driven, committed, solution-oriented, proactive, a team player, creative, innovative, accurate and of course a commercial talent
