Maintenance & Repair Officer (M&R)

For our head office in Rotterdam, we are looking for a Maintenance & Repair Officer.

In this role, you will be part of the Equipment department and report to the Manager Equipment. You are responsible for the maintenance, inspection and repair of containers. With your expertise, you contribute to maintaining the quality and safety of the equipment, ensuring an efficient flow of containers and limiting replacement costs.

About the role

You will work within the Equipment department and play a key role in assessing and coordinating container maintenance and repairs. In this versatile and independent position, you will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders and ensure accurate administrative and technical handling of damages and repairs.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Assessing container damages and maintaining contact with insurers, including discussions on the replacement value of containers
  • Evaluating repair estimates in line with established criteria and contractual agreements
  • Processing and approving repair estimates in accordance with contractual terms
  • Entering and managing container-related data
  • Maintaining contact with internal departments, own offices, terminals, depots and agents
  • Determining the liable party in damage cases
  • Visiting depots when required

What you bring

  • MBO+ level of working and thinking, with a completed education, preferably in logistics
  • Relevant work experience within Maintenance & Repair, for example at a depot
  • In-depth technical knowledge of container maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge of IICL standards up to and including Cargo Worthy criteria (Wind & Water Tight)
  • Knowledge of temperature-controlled containers is an advantage
  • Good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written
  • Strong communication skills, proactive attitude and solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Affinity with computer systems and good knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Flexible attitude and no nine-to-five mentality
