Line Manager Short Sea

Our services focus primarily on the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, the Canary Islands and North and East Africa. Our head office is located in Rotterdam. For our head office in Rotterdam, we are looking for a Line Manager Short Sea

In this role, you are directly responsible for the success of WEC Lines’ Short Sea services and play a central role in developing and managing the line strategy. The role

As Line Manager, you are directly responsible for the success of WEC Lines’ Short Sea services. You will develop and manage the line strategy and play a central role within the WEC Lines network. Collaboration, communication and leadership are essential, as you will work closely with various departments and local WEC Lines offices to achieve the best possible results for our customers and WEC Lines.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve financial performance (P&L) by initiating and implementing appropriate operational and commercial actions.
  • Actively manage and optimise vessel utilisation by identifying opportunities and bottlenecks within our Allocation Management tool.
  • Ensure the integrity of WEC Lines’ sailing schedules, in close cooperation with the Operations and Capacity teams.
  • Develop and maintain a competitive pricing policy based on market and competitor analyses, in line with the commercial strategy of the service.
  • Identify, develop and support commercial opportunities in cooperation with local sales teams.
  • Initiate and lead joint sales campaigns with commercial teams to create new business opportunities and accelerate conversions.

What you bring

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience within the logistics sector, preferably in a commercial, trade management or line management role.
  • Strong analytical skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to plan effectively and prioritise tasks within set deadlines.
  • Proactive, independent and results-oriented approach, with a hands-on mentality.
  • Commercially driven and able to identify and capitalise on market opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, with demonstrable knowledge of and experience with Excel.
  • HBO level of education and thinking, preferably supplemented by a relevant degree or qualification.
