Administrative Officer Ship Settlement (full-time/part-time)

At the head office in Rotterdam, we are looking for an Administrative Officer Ship Settlement (full-time/part-time). The Disbursements Department, part of the Finance Department, is looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a good team spirit.

The organisation

WEC Lines B.V. is a medium-sized maritime logistics service provider specialising in the transport of containers by sea, both short sea and deep sea. Our services mainly focus on England, Portugal, Spain, Canary Islands, North Africa, Red Sea and East Africa.

The Shortsea division operates its own vessels (15 in total) several times a week from NWC and UK to and from Portugal and Spain. The Deepsea division charters slots from various loading ports in NWC to Red Sea destinations and East Africa.

It is headquartered in Rotterdam where it currently employs 95 people. It also has branches in Hamburg, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Barcelona, Nairobi and Mombasa, among others.

Job description

In this versatile and independent position you will be engaged in:

  • The cost and benefit analyses comparing the actual amounts with the budget.
  • Checking and booking incoming invoices from suppliers and port authorities as well as ship’s statements from our agents.
  • Liaising with agents and suppliers about discrepancies in order to resolve disputes and freight differences.
  • Liaise with other departments to discuss discrepancies and possibly improve procedures.
  • You provide and check financial data for internal reporting.
  • At WEC Lines we use our in-house financial systems (ThinkWise, ProActive, Odyssey, Excel).
  • Furthermore, you perform varying ad hoc work.

Profile

  • You have an MBO 4 education (preferably in logistics or administration) and several years of work experience in a financial department, preferably in logistics.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing.
  • You have a high degree of responsibility to meet deadlines.
  • Accurate, flexible, solution-oriented, stress-resistant, and proactive are characteristics that suit you well.
