(Junior) Container Operation Specialist

About the role

As an employee of WEC Lines France, you have a supporting and versatile role within the regional Operation Department. You will support the team with daily tasks, following strict guidelines but actively contributing to future improvements in our process. You have a lot of contacts with WEC Lines other departments, foreign offices and customers or suppliers in order to optimize the flow of container bookings imported, exported or transshipped.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Entry of container booking requests into the relevant software tools we use.
  • Customer service for the freight forwarders, shippers and consignees involved.
  • Recording of shipping instructions and related data in the software tools used by the Company
  • Sending invoices and checking payments for the release of containers.
  • Verification of the customs status of containers if necessary.
  • Organization of haulage and land based logistics upon request.
  • Empty containers processing and storage with the Equipment department.
  • Relations with suppliers, in particular road carriers and terminals.

What you bring

  • 2 year+ technical degree, preferably in a logistics education institution.
  • 1 year professional experience or at least a long duration traineeship in the maritime transport or container logistics sector.
  • Fluent French and English language in word & writing (others appreciated).
  • Good oral and written expression skills.
  • Good capacity to learn & train with the team.
  • Computer skills: MS Outlook & Excel; S)ONE, TOPS or Odyssey is a plus.
